Multi Award winning salon Peter Prosser, are continuing their success with a recent nomination for HAIRDRESSERS JOURNAL’S BUSINESS AWARDS in the Training category.
This nomination is particularly apt for Peter Prosser, as it follows their end of year training show on the 4th July, in which their students showcased all they had learnt, and the impeccably high standard of training that Peter Prosser provides.
This was the first time since Peter Prosser started their training scheme, that the End of Year show was held out of house, but as there was a record number of students this year, the show was re-routed to The Green Dragon Hotel.
And what a day! Students as young as 14, impressed with hairdressing skills of a seasoned professional. Competitions in which students each took a model, demonstrated the benefits of honing your craft with an award winning salon such as Peter Prosser, as their talents shone, impressing friends, parents and peers with the skills they have gained.
120 people attended the event, and played witness to the student’s performance. The 14yrs age group had to perform a blow-dry on their model, whilst the 15yrs group teased hair into an up do. The NVQ 1st year level 2’s presented a traditional salon blow-dry, without the aid of equipment such as straightening irons, whilst the NVQ 2nd year level 2’s did an astonishing cut, colour and blow-dry. All students also brought along mood boards to assist their creativity.
Peter Prosser was thrilled with the sheer excellence displayed in the level of work undertaken by the students, and said: “It is a fantastic way to round off the academic year. Passing on knowledge and skills ensures the craft of Hairdressing stays strong.”
The winners of the day were awarded with gift vouchers and certificates from judges Peter Prosser, Kristina Jones and Carmen Joseph to commemorate their achievements. The Peter Prosser Artistic Team also took to the stage, and the audience and students alike were treated to a demonstration in the very best in Hair work. It was especially poignant for the students as it enabled them to visually appreciate what they are aspiring to.
By working so closely with the future of British Hairdressing, Peter Prosser are securing their status as an Academy of fineness and brilliance, and leave little wonder as to why they are subject to such exciting award nomination

From Mayfair to Manchester - Hereford’s leading chain of hair salons has launched it’s talent onto the nations catwalks.
Renowned for their style and success in the trade ‘Peter Prosser Hairdressing’ has now hit the top fashion houses with their exclusive designs.
After a successful week at the London Fashion Show last Autumn, Peter was invited by the ‘British Fellowship of Hairdressers’ to showcase his latest styles at ‘Fashion Focus 2009’.
In the Northern Metropolis he shared his expertise not only with the country’s hairdressing elite; Sassoon, Mahogany, H.O.B., - but top names in the UK fashion industry.
Peter was given a ‘men’s’ theme to work on which had a young and sporty design brief. To demonstrate live on stage the very latest in hair trends to suit he commissioned two male models, one of whom works in his men’s city salon. To reflect the clear cut lines of the outfits chosen by clothes stylist Bernard; long shorts, Regatta Style jackets and pointed white shoes; the hair styles were imperative. Peter spent months planning for the event and is the first to admit he was slightly nervous.
Rehearsals took place all afternoon alongside eighteen other hairdressing teams who were also showcasing their work.
Peter says ‘The thrill of sharing hairdressing fashion with such an audience is amazing, I had just six minutes in which to style Ashley’s hair so I cut one side and scissor over-combed it – a classic technique’.
His show wowed the audience attending the Quay Theatre in Manchester, so much so he’s already been asked to take part in future exclusive fashion shows across the country.
‘It’s such a fantastic opportunity for me to enlarge upon my designs’ says Peter ‘and they’re mostly what fit the bill in my home county of Herefordshire. It’s really inspired me to take more of my work to the catwalk so it can be appreciated not just locally but also nationally.’
In just a decade Peter Prosser Hairdressing has become synonymous with the very best in hair design and boasts a string of awards for it’s contribution to the trade.
Could Peter Prosser Hairdressing soon become a leading national brand? Watch this space!

More than 2,000 style gurus attended the Graham Norton-hosted event, described by figures as “the best in the world”.

Peter Prosser and staff from Peter Prosser Hairdressing for Men performed a live cut throat shave in front of a host of hairy men on Sunday 30th November in Saxtys in celebration of the end of ‘Movember’, a world wide campaign that encourages men to grow moustaches for the entirety of November in aid of raising money and awareness of prostate cancer.
The staff of Hereford Pedicabs joined forces with Saxtys Wine Bar, Sixth Sense Fitness and Peter Prosser Hairdressing for Men to support more than fifty Herefordshire men who all took part in the event, which raised over £3000 for the good cause.
Peter Prosser Hairdressing for Men donated a live cut throat shave awarded to the best moustache and six months worth of men’s hairdressing for the raffle. Peter felt that it was hugely important to for the men’s salon to support the event, since statistics reveal that one man dies every minute from prostate cancer and ‘movember’ despite being a lot of fun, helps to raise awareness of the disease and encourages men to take regular health checks as well as raising money from those already affected by the illness.
On Thursday 5th June 2008 five hundred local entrepreneurs, business professionals and industry leaders gathered at Eastnor Castle to raise a glass and toast the best of the best at the Chamber of Commerce Business Awards Ceremony for the Hereford and Worcestershire region.
After submitting an written entry form in March, Peter and his team were thrilled to hear that they had been short-listed to the final 3 companies in the category of Employer of the Year. A further stage of judging took place which culminated towards the nail-biting awards ceremony evening, where Peter and his salon beat off stiff competition to be awarded the prestigious title.
Peter commented “I was totally amazed and surprised; thank you so much to the Chamber. However, this wouldn’t have been possible without the huge support from all of our staff. What a wonderful way to celebrate our 10th Birthday, and to thank them for all their hard work in getting the business to where it is today."
In searching for the winner of the category judges were looking for a company that demonstrates real commitment to supporting and developing its staff, and who understands the business benefits gained through the contribution of its workforce.
Peter Prosser Hairdressing currently employs forty seven full and part time staff making Peter one of the largest retail employers in the area. He is also currently training some twenty seven students who are studying towards their NVQ’s at the Peter Prosser Hairdressing training salon. Having won the title of ‘Employer of the Year 2008’awared by The Chamber of Commerce Hereford and Worcester, and being nominated as a regional finalist in The Hairdresser of the Year competition, which will be announced at The Grosvenor House London, in November, the year is proving to be exceptionally exciting and a fantastic way to mark the businesses 10th anniversary, which the team will celebrate in October.
Herefordshire born stylist John Lucock of Peter Prosser Hairdressing’s creative team travelled to the Wella Studio in London to present a hair and fashion collection to an audience of top industry professionals. The salon was approached by the Fellowship of British Hairdressing to join twenty other salons from around the UK in showcasing Peter Prosser’s salon and their high standard of innovation and creativity.
Peter Prosser who was awarded this years ‘Employer of The Year 2008’ by the Chamber of Commerce Herefordshire and Worcester, asked John if he would represent the salon in London. John was born in Hereford and has previously worked in Bournemouth, Spain, Sri Lanka and 18 years in Berlin, however he was drawn back to Hereford two years ago to work for the salon after seeing images of Peter’s hair collection in a magazine in Berlin.
Ever proud of Herefordshire and the local people, Peter and John were keen to cast models from the county. Subsequently four local girls were selected to go to London, and showcase Peter Prosser Hairdressing and Herefordshire in exhibiting alongside some of the countries most elite salons.
It has been announced that Peter Prosser of Peter Prosser Hairdressing Ltd had been selected as a finalist for the prestigious Hairdresser of the Year Awards 2008 in the Midlands category.
The process began some ten months ago, when preparations for a photographic hair shoot were discussed and planned. The collection was shot in London in May and Peter and his team eagerly awaited the news about whether their entry had been selected for the final. Peter has returned to London to shoot a further hair collection for judging. Now the decision lies in the hands of the judges; a vast panel of consumer magazine editors and hairdressing professionals. The winner will be announced on the 24th November 2008 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane London.
Peter was triumphant in winning this award in 2004, but his success at making it through to the finals this year has delighted both Peter, his wife Tracey and their team and has been the perfect news in helping to celebrate their 10th years in business.
